To ensure that advanced first aiders are able to safely and effectively provide care when an emergency arises, it is essential that they receive ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Trauma Resus has adopted the model of low-dose, high-frequency training to deliver ongoing continuous professional development via an innovative hybrid model of local EURIECA® Maintenance of Skills (MOS) facilitators, online webinars and the Laerdal Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) system.
We have developed a two-day MOS Facilitators course, which trains members of your organisation to become local MOS facilitators. Once the MOS facilitators have completed the course, Trauma Resus provides the learning materials to enable them to effectively deliver ongoing CPD to EURIECA® trained personnel. Alternatively, Trauma Resus can directly deliver Maintenance Of Skills training in pre-arranged sessions.
We work with each client organisation to develop a MOS schedule that operates in line with its operational plans, and usually takes around half a day per quarter. This time can used flexibly, particularly through the summer months, when operational pressures are at their greatest. During these periods we can make use of our Learning Portal for delivery of online educational sessions directly to your technicians.
MOS facilitators undertake an annual 1 day requalification course, and receive an updated MOS package, which includes any changes to clinical practice.
The aim of the programme is to ensure that EURIECA® trained personal maintain their knowledge, skills, competence and confidence following their initial training.
Trained providers should undertake the following :-
MOS training sessions should be run using the skill station lesson plans (LPs) and scenario plans as provided by Trauma Resus.
It is widely recognised that shore-based teams involved in site coordination & control are the lynchpin for communication, especially during an active emergency response, resulting in high pressure and testing of individuals’ knowledge.
Considering this, the EAC is focused upon providing participants an improved understanding of the EURIECA® programme, to enable effective operational planning and preparation, leading to a high performing team which improves outcomes when responding to any emergency situations that may occur.
In addition to improving their understanding of the operational constraints that working in the remote and austere environment brings, medical related terminology employed, and inter-agency working, individuals will also conduct emergency first aid skills, including management of bleeding, and basic life support using an Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
EAC is a dual-certificated Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification.
The EURIECA® Advanced First Aid programme incorporates training, equipment, telemedicine, and clinical governance, and is a component of Emergency Response Planning in a substantial proportion of Offshore Wind Organisation around the UK.

This course enables individuals in the wind turbine industry to support and care for others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge, skills, and ability of enhanced first aid. The course is delivered via theoretical and practical training, in accordance with Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Enhanced First Aid (EFA) Training.
Upon completion, participants will be able to administer safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save lives and give assistance in remote areas using advanced emergency equipment and medical teleconsultation.
The aim of the module is to enable the participants to support and care for others working in the industry and to provide ongoing care to an ill or injured casualty over a short period of time while waiting for professional emergency rescue teams to arrive.
Overall learning objectives for the EFA course are :-
GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) training is delivered over 3 days, and refresher training is delivered over 2 days.
Upon completion of the course, students are awarded GWO Enhanced First Aid certificate, which remains valid for two years from assessment date.
