The Critical Care Advanced Transfer Training (CCATT) course is aimed at all those involved with the transport of critically ill patients including doctors, nurses, ODPs & paramedics.
Trauma Resus has been successfully delivering the CCATT training course for over a decade utilising a faculty of Intensive care consultants and experienced health care professionals.
The Intensive Care Society (ICS) & Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) released updated guidance on “The transfer of Critically Ill Adults” (May 2019) following recommendations made by The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch in January 2019.
Dr Carl Waldmann, FICM Dean states :-
“Transferring critically ill patients who may be suffering with several problems requiring multi organ support requires exceptional planning and requires the staff to be highly trained.”
Transporting critically ill patients is a challenging, high-risk situation that requires the right team, with the right training to ensure these risks are managed appropriately and to perform a safe and effective transfer. All surgery and anaesthesia comes with a risk and when patients deteriorate do your staff have the knowledge to effectively assess and stabilise a critically ill patient and perform a safe transfer?
The course provides the most advanced up to date transfer training available in the UK. This intensive one-day course will provide medical personnel with the skills and knowledge needed to make critical care transfer as safe and efficient as possible, improving outcomes and comfort for the patient.
Despite high quality simulation, training with manikins can differ to using your knowledge and skills in the real world, when it really matters.
Upon successful completion of the IEC Instructor course, and subject to an approved enhanced DBS check, we can facilitate the opportunity to attend a 5-day hospital placement working with members of our team in a busy hospital in the North West, to take your training to the next level.
A hospital placement may also be appropriate as a part of your ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio.
Such a placement will not be simply in the role of an observer. It will be a ‘hands on’ practical placement involving real life patients, where students may be required to achieve a number of airway management procedures including laryngeal mask insertions, attendance at cardiac arrests, assessment of critically ill patients on the critical care unit, and assessment of limb injuries amongst a whole host of other scenarios.
All students will be under direct supervision of critical care staff at all times, and under the overall supervision of a leading consultant.
